Civil 3D 2012 Interchange Design

Evaluating Existing Conditions

  • Describe the workflow for creating existing ground surfaces.
  • Generate an EG surface based on contour data.
  • Generate an EG surface by importing data from an external LandXML file.
  • Evaluate the existing 3D surface model.

Designing Interchanges

  • Describe a workflow for interchange design by identifying the engineering tasks in the design process.
  • Create horizontal alignments using two methods.
  • Apply design criteria and superelevation to the horizontal component of the alignments.
  • Create surface profiles to display the existing terrain along an alignment.
  • Create layout profiles that represent designed elevations along an alignment.
  • Create assemblies and add subassemblies to create a typical section.

Modeling Interchanges

  • Describe a workflow for modeling interchanges.
  • Create the corridor models for the interchange inner and outer ramp loops; create the finished grade and datum surfaces; and generate the final contours using these surfaces.
  • Generate meaningful construction information by labeling the finished grade surface; creating cross sections; computing volumes; creating a report of earthwork cut and fill quantities; and creating a report on the quantity of roadbed materials..
