Course Overview

The focus of this course is learning the software, not on creating your own project.
Examples will be used for demonstration and practice. This course is a great foundation to continue with a Maya Intermediate course which is more designed to dive deeper into Maya by creating your own projects. The exam is a separate product that can be purchased at Certiport.

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Language: English or German.
  • Maya 2020 or 2019, Free Educational License downloaded on your computer.

Modelling:
  • Clone objects
  • Determine poly count
  • Edit polygon surfaces
  • Identify the typical workflow when smoothing meshes
  • Modelling aids
  • Use 2d NURBS tools
  • Use Polygon Modelling tools
Day 2:
Materials /Shading:
  • Set material attributes
  • Use Hypershade
  • Use materials and textures
Lighting:
  • Differentiate light types
  • Shadow maps
Cameras:
  • Differentiate camera types
  • Safe title and safe action
  • Identify camera attribute names or values
Rendering:
  • Configure Render Settings
  • Describe raytrace / scanline quality settings
  • List and differentiate renderers
Day 3:
Animation:
  • Create a path animation and evaluate an object along a path
  • Edit animation curves using the Graph Editor
  • Keyframes
  • Locate the value of an animated attribute
Rigging:
  • Identify Bones
  • Identify IK Handles and controls
  • Identify skin
